CHANCES of Stone County provides a number of services for residents of Stone County, Missouri, who have developmental disabilities. In the coming months, CHANCES hopes to partner with the newly-formed Stone County Developmental Disability Board to provide additional services and supports for the betterment of the lives of area residents and their families.

Below are the activities, scholarships and support we currently offer:

Activities

CHANCES supports the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, throughout Stone County. Our focus is on an individual’s ABILITY and their personal GOALS….and having FUN, of course!

Many of our members participate in various activities throughout the year, including:

  • Camp through Camp Barnabas

  • Employment and life skills training through the Barnabas Preparatory Program

  • Group activities throughout the year (outings to Springfield Cardinals games, The Track Family Fun Parks, Dewey Short Visitors Center, bowling, music shows and more!)

  • Sports through Special Olympics, A Sporting Chance, and Champion Athletes

 

Education Scholarships

  • Scholarships to Camp Barnabas – 2018 Application Coming Soon – The Barnabas Prep scholarship will awarded to an individual that plans to attend Barnabas Prep and resides in Stone County, MO.

  • Scholarships to Barnabas Prep – 2018 Application Coming Soon

  • $1,500 annual scholarship to a graduating senior with a developmental disability for college – 2018 Application Coming Soon

  • $1,500 annual scholarship to a graduating senior going into the Special Education field – 2018 Application Coming Soon – The special education scholarship will be awarded to a student that is planning on a future in the special education field and will be graduating from a Stone County, MO high school.

Support

While everyone is truly different, we have many shared experiences that are a common thread for families with loved ones who have special needs. The CHANCES community is a space where you can express your thoughts, seek support and share information with fellow members.
